- What is TagMyRun?
- TagMyRun is a tool for race and sports photographers that reads the bib numbers in your photos using AI and writes them into each photo, so your library becomes searchable by race number. It works as a web app in your browser and as a desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- How does bib tagging work?
- You point TagMyRun at a folder of race photos. It reads the bib number on each runner automatically, gives you a quick review to correct any tricky ones, then writes the numbers into the photos. Tagging thousands of photos takes minutes instead of hours.
- Is TagMyRun free?
- You start with 500 free credits, where one credit tags one photo, so you can run a real folder before paying anything. After that it is roughly a penny per photo, and it costs the same whether you use the web app or the desktop app.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. There is no account to set up. You request a free access key by email, paste it into the app, and you are ready to go.
- Does TagMyRun use face recognition?
- No. TagMyRun reads bib numbers, not faces. A bib is an identifier the runner chose to wear by signing up, which keeps the tool light on privacy and legal responsibilities compared with facial recognition.
- What photo software does it work with?
- The bib numbers are written into standard IPTC and XMP metadata, so the tags travel with the file. That means your photos are searchable by bib number in Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, SmugMug, PhotoShelter, and most gallery and cataloguing software.
- Will it change or damage my original photos?
- Your originals are only ever touched when you choose to write results, and TagMyRun only adds bib numbers to the metadata — it does not alter the image itself. You can also export the results as a CSV or JSON file instead.
- Do I need to install anything?
- Not necessarily. The web app runs in Google Chrome with nothing to download. If you prefer to work offline or process very large batches, you can download the desktop app for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- How many photos can it handle?
- TagMyRun is built for big batches — thousands of race photos in a single run — and processes them in minutes rather than the hours it would take to tag them by hand.
